Waking up in a stranger’s house with no memory of last night’s event was not an ideal day for Mick Maux. Especially when there’s a dead body near him, and the police are knocking on the doorstep. Experience the same rush as Dr. Philip Emma leads us through an exciting story that will keep you up all night. The Marriage of Figgalo is a mystery you wouldn’t want to miss.
Mick Maux was a retired scientist, now working as a private investigator. He and his wife, Carol, work for clients who are willing to spend a lot of money for discretion. Their job requires them to dig holes that the cops wouldn’t get through. As a matter of fact, the night before he woke up in a stranger’s home, he was at La Chambre à Coucher reviewing notes for their prospective client. What happens after that is a mystery to Mick. Now, standing in a living room with a dead man inside, he must make a choice. So, he opened the door and pretended that he was the homeowner, driving the police away. The next thing he knew, he was dragging the body inside the car and driving it to a grocery store, where the cops would find it. More than the fear of being convicted, it was the curiosity about who did this and why he was involved in it that mattered to him the most.
Dr. Philip Emma did a fantastic job of painting a clear picture of the setting as well as the events in the introduction and throughout the narrative. It’s well-done enough to make you feel like you’re in the same room as the character. This is an excellent start; the events were expertly woven together, the ending was satisfying but left you wanting more, and it was completely engaging and engrossing. The writing style is such that you won’t realize how many pages you’ve already read. Curiosity will pique your interest right away and keep you interested all the way to the conclusion. The Marriage of Figgalo has a style of narrative that uses various descriptive phrases to arouse your senses. The way it was written was clear and colorful. There were also a variety of personalities in the story that will give you that mixed flavor of how it was told.
Experience the thrill of this one-of-a-kind mystery. As the story unravels before your eyes, the twists and turns of the events will keep you speechless and gripping your seats. This is not your typical mystery-solving story, as it will also, from time to time, make you laugh and smile. Dr. Philip Emma’s The Marriage of Figgalo will surely make it to your list of best-read books of the century.
